Dear World: Reconnecting Russian children to creativity

OUTCOME


My essay exposes how advertisers exploit users emotionally through doomscrolling. By highlighting the impact of the Cambridge Analytica scandal I emphasise the urgent need for transparency in digital advertising.


FINDINGS


72% of survey respondents described their scrolling as “mindless,” suggesting reduced awareness and increased vulnerability when using social media.


Cambridge Analytica harvested data from 87 million Facebook users without consent to target with political advertising.

BRIEF


I was tasked to write a research proposal, to help me 'define and refine' an area of my choice.


I chose to investigate ethical advertising and explore the impact of doomscrolling on audiences, with the aim of understanding how digital media influences consumer behaviour and well-being.
